Job Description

An employee in this class examines and diagnosis dental conditions and maintains the dental wellbeing of the patient. This employee examines medical histories, diagnoses dental disease/malfunctions, prescribes medications, and performs other diagnostic and restorative procedures as necessary. Supervision of students treating patients in the dental hygiene and/or dental therapy program will be part of the duties of this employee.

Minimum Qualifications

Current license or eligibility for license to practice dentistry in the State of Minnesota (once attained, must be kept current)

Preferred Qualification

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of general dentistry.
Considerable knowledge of digital software and digital radiography.
Considerable knowledge of the techniques involved and the skill in diagnosing and treating a wider variety of dental diseases and injuries.
Considerable knowledge of recent developments in the field of general dentistry and dental pharmacology.
Communicate with staff, students, patients and other dental personnel.
Instruct student dental therapists and dental hygienists in the treatment of patients.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Current CPR certification.

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
